Sustainability

Here at Cinnamon Daisy, I am passionate about sustainability for several reasons. First and foremost, it's the right thing to do for our planet. I also believe that sustainable practices are good for business; they help us reduce costs and attract customers who believe the same. And finally, I believe that sustainable businesses have a responsibility to lead the way in creating a more sustainable world.
There are a lot of different ways to be sustainable, and I’m constantly trying to find new ways to reduce my impact on the environment. No industry is perfect, especially the fashion industry. But I believe in doing BETTER, not being perfect, and I will try to be the best I can be with the resources I have.

As an exchange for using paper and a way to give back to the planet, I have teamed up with TheGoodAPI, an environmental organisation who have partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects to plant trees, create local jobs and help mitigate climate change.
For every order placed with Cinnamon Daisy: 1 tree is planted 🌱

Here are ways I try to be better:
FABRICS
I use unwanted fabrics and samples from textiles suppliers that would normally get thrown out. If I buy fabric, I only buy deadstock or fabric that is OEKO-TEX certified. All fabric waste is kept in bins (including threads!) to reuse in future projects like scrunchies or quilting.

MANUFACTURING
I focus on minimizing waste by manufacturing on a made-to-order basis or occasionally producing a small quantity of one-off pieces using upcycled textiles. All garment manufacturing, pattern cutting, grading etc is done by myself (Hi! It’s me, Emma) in-house in my Yorkshire studio. The pattern paper I use at home is from PEFC forests and all waste is recycled into the paper bin.
The printed paper patterns are print-on-demand to avoid unnecessary waste and are printed and despatched by CLCPrints. I worked closely with Louise to get the printed product as environmentally friendly as possible. The pattern paper used is from FSC forests.

PACKAGING & SHIPPING
All products are shipped using recycled cardboard boxes and paper tape and can be recycled. No single use plastic is used.

Sustainability is important to me for a lot of reasons. I want to do my part to take care of the planet, I want to be efficient and cost-effective, and I want to set an example for other businesses to follow. I'm constantly looking for new ways to be sustainable, and I hope you'll join me on this journey!
