Hi, I’m Em – the one woman band behind Cinnamon Daisy. I do it all here in my home studio in West Yorkshire with Nyla the dog for company.

I started this sewing business as a way to bring more joy into my life and to slow down. I accidentally healed my body image through sewing and became part of the best sewing community.

I am your biggest cheerleader and here to boost your sewing skills and confidence.

Thanks for being here.

Every body matters

I believe that every body matters which is why I create size-inclusive sewing patterns for ever-changing bodies. I include thoughtful design details like wider straps to cover bra straps, extra cup sizes and expandable waists for comfort.

Representation is important to me which is why you'll always see a variety of body shapes and ethnicities in my photography.

The world matters

There are lots of different ways to be sustainable, and I’m constantly trying to find new ways to reduce my impact on the environment. No industry is perfect, especially the fashion industry. But I believe in doing BETTER, not being perfect, and I will try to be the best I can be with the resources I have.

You can read more about my sustainability practices here.

Creativity matters

Creativity matters because it keeps the brain active, improves wellbeing and boosts confidence. Plus, it’s a skill we can keep growing at any age! Creativity gives us a little escape from the noise and busyness of everyday life and invites us to slow down.

Remember you don't need to make a garment per week, slow sewing is where it's at!

Thoughtfulness, comfort & empowerment

Emma Horsman

Somewhere along my life journey I became a little lost, stuck in jobs that didn't feel right and working for companies whose values didn't align with mine. I yearned for something more and longed for the freedom to design my own life and to design how my day looked. I explored and delved deep to understand what brings me the most joy and how I can incorporate more of that into my life.

Turns out, it was the thing I studied 15 years prior! Sewing takes me into a flow state and I will often skip a meal (which is unheard of - I really LOVE food haha). The sense of achievement I get from creating and wearing that creation is a marvellous thing.

What's been a lovely by-product of sewing my own clothes is an increase in confidence. Not only in my ability to sew but feeling confident in my own skin. Gone are the days of changing room struggles and feeling like my body is wrong in some way. I get to sew clothes for my unique shape and feel confident!

Now, my mission is to inspire you to explore that same creativity and reconnect with your body. Whether it’s finally nailing that invisible zip, creating a handmade wardrobe that finally fits, or just viewing your body with less judgement, I’m here to cheer you on every step of the way.

Honesty, kindness & balance

2005

Collage

I studied Art & Design at college and touched a sewing machine for the first time. I didn't love it and ended up using a hot glue gun to assemble my first dress. Trust me when I say I know how being a beginner sewist feels! (yes I'm wearing blue eyeshadow in the photo)

2008

University

I graduated university with a BA Hons in Fashion Design and can confidently say my skills improved immensely! I fell in love with pattern cutting and sewing and made 12 garments for my final show. Unfortunately, graduating in a recession meant that I got stuck working in jobs I didn't enjoy.

2020

Lockdown Sewing

During covid times, I was furloughed for 9 months and decided to dig out my sewing machine and fabric stash. I felt very rusty having had a 10 year break from sewing but I realised just how much joy it gave me. It was during this time that I started to think I could turn this passion into something more.

2022

Quit full-time employment

After much consideration and a house move, I took a big scary leap into self-employment and started working on the brand. I used design agency Off Grid to create the branding and it was important for me to have clarity on what I wanted to achieve.

2023

Launched my first sewing pattern

Imposter syndrome was high this year! Drafting a pattern from scratch after such a long break from it and creating a sewing pattern for the first time was a steep learning curve. But I'm so proud I pushed on! The Willow launched in the September and is still my best-selling sewing pattern.

2024

Launched more sewing patterns

I spent this year focusing on building my community! I did some cool collaborations, freelance projects and released more new patterns. I spent a lot of time really building brand awareness. A lot of fun was had sewing very cute things!

2025

Launched Poppy and Willow with cup sizes

I launched my first sewing pattern with cup sizes - the Poppy pattern and it was a huge success! I decided to re-launch the Willow pattern to include cup sizes and added sew-along videos and more helpful resources like fitting guides. I also completely re did my website so everything feels fresh.

This was a great pattern testing experience and love how responsive, active and helpful Emma is. One of the best testing groups I've been in!
