The one for matching moments with mama.

You’re going to love Mini Willow because it’s one of those girls’ sewing patterns that’s as comfy as it is cute. It’s designed so kids can pull it on, run out the door, and jump straight into playtime without anything getting in the way. There are lots of ways to customise it too: sew it as a top or a knee-length dress, choose from sleeveless, puff sleeves, or fluted sleeves, and yes this sewing pattern includes generous inseam pockets, perfect for rocks, snacks, leaves, and all the tiny surprises they like to collect. Every version has that lovely high neckline and the signature mid-scoop back, so it always looks sweet and effortless.

The front bodice has little waist darts and side ties that let you bring in some shape without losing any of that comfy, relaxed fit kids love. The back bodice features a flat-felled seam for a neat finish, and the neckline and armholes (for the sleeveless version) use bias binding, which gives everything a clean, polished look.

Mini Willow has no zips or buttons, which makes it an easy sewing pattern for confident beginners or for a quick, satisfying weekend make. It’s one of those all-year-round, transitional girls’s dress patterns you can sew again and again. Think gingham for summer beach days, soft flannel for cosy winter outfits, or drapey satin for weddings, Christmas parties, and all the special occasions.

And the best part? You can twin with mama by sewing the grown-up version using the Willow sewing pattern. Matching outfits with your mini, absolutely adorable.

Fabric & Supplies

Fabric:

This sewing pattern is ideal for light to medium weight, non-stretch woven fabric such as viscose, linen, shirting, cotton lawn, jacquard, gingham, tencel etc.

Structured fabric like cotton will have more dramatic volume on the puff sleeve and fluid fabrics like viscose will have more drape for the flute sleeve.

Supplies

  • Optional 0.6cm (1/4”) elastic for puff sleeve
  • 12mm (1/2”) single fold bias binding
  • Matching thread
  • Sewing machine and basic tools including either a rouleau loop turner or 2x safety pins
Finished Garment Measurements

This is the size the garment will be once you’ve sewn it together.

Fabric Requirements

Fabric quantities have been calculated with sleeves included. Sewing a sleeveless version will use 0.3m (0.3yd) less fabric. The dress version includes pockets; should you choose to sew a pocketless version this will use less fabric.
